The iconic DMC DeLorean, famous for the “Back to the Future” franchise, is making a comeback in an electric version with a starting price of around $300,000.
Developed by the Chinese company LYNX, the new model will be called the DMC-EV, instead of retaining the original name due to legal reasons. The brand aims to blend nostalgia and innovation, preserving classic elements like the brushed steel body and gullwing doors.
The DMC-EV retains the characteristic design of the original DeLorean, with full-LED headlights and a futuristic front grille. Although it has incorporated aesthetic air vents, the new electric version uses a temperature control system for its 70 kWh lithium-ion batteries, offering a range of 400 km on the European cycle.
Performance is promising, with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in under four seconds, although details on power and torque have yet to be revealed.
In addition to the updated design and mechanics, the DMC-EV also features advanced technology, such as a dashboard with two integrated screens and a minimalist central console. Buyers of the model will receive a three-year warranty and can participate in a buyback program.
To purchase the vehicle, interested parties must fill out a form on the LYNX website, keeping in mind that import costs are not included in the final price.
